1999 (T) Pilgrim Sumo V8 Cobra Replica

This is a unique opportunity to own a very individual replica AC Cobra 427 that stands out from the crowd - a previous show winner.

This Pilgrim Sumo was meticulously built over the course of a year between 1998 and 1999 and passed its SVA on its first attempt. All paperwork and the V5 is correctly registered and the car wears a nice and short registration number from 1968.

The bodywork is finished in Kylami Flash, a Standox Limited Edition Chrome Flare paint applied by professional finishers. Depending upon your viewing angle, Kylami Flash moves through 5 distinct colours - from dark blue to glowing green, shimmering red-gold, deep brown and rich mauve. Sparkling Mica particles enhance the dramatic effect of the pigments.

The engine is an American Ford Windsor 302 cubic inch V8 (4949cc) that has been completely rebuilt by an American engine specialist, delivering circa 300 horsepower and running 120PSI across all cylinders. This is mated to a fully rebuilt and rare Ford AOD gearbox which is an automatic with overdrive.

This engine and gearbox combination gives startling performance on a car that weighs only slightly over 1000kg, but at the same time, offers effortless cruising at low RPM in overdrive, and all with excellent fuel economy (2000RPM at 70 MPH, 25MPG)

The engine is as show-stopping as the rest of the car.and was only fitted in 2004 and has covered very minimal miles since. Engine specification incudes 600CFM VAC Secondary 4-Barrel Carbs, Edelbrock Performer Manifold,  and Performer Cam Kit, Clevite Pistons, Comp Cams Roller Rockers, Coyles Timing Chain, HP Oil Pump, Mallory Ignition, and Silicon SS Braided Hoses.

The chassis is fully galvanised. Hubs and Servo-Assisted Brakes are all Ford, as is the steering and electrics. The wheels are 3-piece split-rim replica Halibrands (7J x 15 front, 81/2J x 15 rears) wrapped in Cooper Radial GT tyres and attached to Spax springs with gas shocks - fully adjustable for both ride and height. 

The interior is finished in Grey hide with black piping, B&M auto Shifter, and a full set of chrome/black ETB Gauges. The exterior trim is mostly high quality Stainless Steel, including the side exhausts and heat shields. Front and rear nudge bars and over-riders are chrome.

This spectacular car has covered a mere 11,000 miles since build, and even less since the new engine was fitted - and only ever in dry weather and always garaged. The car is, however, supplied with full weather gear comprising of the roof, side windows and a full tonneau, all finished in black. 

The car has been regularly serviced regardless of mileage and has never been on a track.

The car is suppled with two keys, an extensive history file, a no-advisory MOT until August 2024 and an extendable, market-leading warranty.
